Leading heat pump technology for the coldest conditions
Our leading heat pump is engineered with Lennox' most advanced cold climate technology, using a variable-speed compressor with Electronic Refrigerant Injection (ERI) to adjust the energy usage based on the outside temperature. In colder temperatures, the ERI increases heating output efficiently, providing the warm, rich comfort of a gas furnace with the efficiency of a heat pump.
The perfect amount of quiet
To reduce operating sound levels, the SL22KLV uses a sound-dampening system with a precision-balanced, direct-drive fan to ensure smooth, quiet operation. This lets it operate at a volume as quiet as 58 dB, or the sound of a microwave.
Digitally intelligent for accuracy and efficiency
This truly digital product is designed to pair with the Lennox S40 Smart Thermostat as part of a fully communicating home comfort system. Sensors in the equipment allow the thermostat to diagnose issues and automatically make system adjustments to more accurately and efficiently maintain temperature, humidity and air quality.

Compressor overheats, "22 SEER2" is optimistic
December 29, 2025Ever since I had this unit installed, the compressor top cap switch opens, disabling the compressor and leading the unit to rely on aux heat for heating. It is accompanied by a low discharge temperature warning. I haven't been able to use the unit in cooling mode for prolonged periods yet. The outside unit's housing is thin and got dented during install. The replacement that was shipped was even more bent (packaged improperly?) so the panel is still dented. The outdoor unit's top grates are very wide, so leaves fall in easily - and the bottom isn't open, so the leaves cannot be cleaned out without a long vacuum hose and removing the top fan and fan wire conduit. You WILL need to buy a top mesh to keep leaves out of this unit. 22 SEER2 is an optimistic/"nominal" value, and in many cases is under 20 SEER2 which may affect your utility rebates. I wish I went with a Trane 20 TruComfort instead, which looks to be more resistant against leaves and the 20 SEER2 rating is more conservative than reality while Lennox oversells their supposed efficiency.
