ML193EK Gas Furnace
HVAC system design more important than furnace?
December 30, 2025This furnace was installed in a new construction home--we did not choose Lennox or the model. Lennox seems to have good ratings overall and the heater seems to be working OK. However, we had to call service immediately after moving in since we saw an error message. Apparently it was an installation issue and a jumper was set incorrectly. The main issue though is that the furnace is either under-powered or the HVAC system design is poor (ducts/registers and air returns are not well-placed--or not enough registers?) because there are many warm and cold spots in the home. We see temperature variations from 4 to 6 degrees from the thermostat (or more if very cold). This seems very unusual and we are informing the builder of this issue. It's not just the furnace that matters--is the HVAC system designed well and properly executed? That is probably more important. I don't know if Lennox and other manufacturers have any control of those aspects.
