High Efficiency Variable Capacity Furnace
April 04, 2026I replaced my 36-year old single-stage Carrier furnace with the Lennox SLP99V variable capacity gas furnace. So far, I am quite pleased with its performance and ability to keep a consistent comfort level. With its advance modulating feature, it can adjusts the fuel flow to the gas valve in small increments and vary the motor speed of the blower fan to control the heating output necessary to maintain precise constant temperature and humidity. This is unlike my old furnace where it runs the blower fan at a single speed with the gas valve and burner going at full blast during call for heating, or cycles completely off resulting in hot-and-cold fluctuations. The Lennox system runs so gently and quietly at most time that I can’t even hear it running while it continuously maintains the temperature and ideal comfort level. I’ve had the new system for only 3-months, but we recently had below 38-degree outside temperatures for several days here, so I had an opportunity to operate the new furnace for a true functional test and was impressed with its performance. I know this unit has many innovative advance electronics and controls that can potentially go wrong. But so far so good. If this new Lennox unit stays or proves to be reliable with no major breakdown or issues in the near future, I can attest that this is a remarkable highly efficient furnace with great features that I enthusiastically recommend.
