The Auto Function and your energy bill.
June 06, 2025The Auto function is not practical as it does not allow you to set a range ie one temperature for heat if temp falls to 68F and another to turn on AC if temperature exceed 74F. As a result, if you set it for 72F the heat would turns on at 71F and the AC would turns on at 73F. The end result was th unit ran almost all day long between heating and cooling which used up a huge amount of electricity. You should also be aware that the unit had a 6degree differential for the heat setting and 4 degrees for the AC, as a result when I used the cool setting and set it for 72F the unit ran and cooled the room to 68F. When I used the heat set at 72F the room got up to 79F and even hit 82F at one point. Apparently, my tech was able to change the setting so that the unit uses a 0.5 degree differential. We will see if that helps. Anyways, I hope these comments help other customers to feel more comfortable. I hope Lennox will add a multi range setting when using the auto function.
