Louver rant
June 10, 2026I would give this AC a 5 but the difficultlies in cleaning the coils. I wrote a letter to consumer affairs about this in the past. I have cottonwood trees in my neighborhood that necessitates removing the louver coil guards twice a year and just completed that task again today. My fingers are cut and make hurts from the ordeal. Your literature says they have hinges (that was my from my previous Lennox ACs) but now there are 4 smalls screws that need to be removed to remove the coil guard louver. the Louver is heavy, the screws and the screws holes for attachment are small and now I am lucky to get 1 screw back in place to secure the louver. The edges on the louver are rather sharp and often they cut my fingers when struggle to hold the louver in place while trying to find the ridiculously small screw hole with the small screw. the louver bends and twists and the "hinges" to attach 1 side of the louvers difficult to accurately align with the frame and the small slots for the "hinge" This is not a hinge as when you open the louver it falls off and that is not what hinges should do. You can read my email I sent July 1 2025 after I bought a Lennox AC and I now have 2 Lennox ACs that work well but are a big pain to clean. You can do better with louvers is my claim and is what I said with my email 1 year ago. By the way, the costomer service person indicated that they would get back to me and this did not happen. I really don't like the louvers the cover the coils making cleaning the coils very difficult and painful. Very good product otherwise and yes I would recommend a Lennox AC and furnace
