FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Perfect comfort is something we want you to experience long after you’ve purchased your Lennox® product. That’s why we offer a collection of resources that make it as easy as possible for you to get the answers and support you need.

What is the difference between a system and a zone?

A system corresponds to the outdoor/indoor unit combo. Let's say that you have two outdoor units. This means you have two systems. If you have purchased Lennox Smart Zoning System zoning, then you'll be able to control the temperature in certain areas or rooms of the house, also called zones, with the same system.

Below is a diagram showing a house with 2 systems, with each system controlling an area of the home. One system controls all rooms upstairs while the other system controls all rooms downstairs.

Diagram 2 below shows a home with one system and Lennox Smart Zoning System zoning. You can control the temperature for each individual zone in the house even though they share the same system. Lennox Smart Zoning System zoning requires additional equipment (automated dampers).
