Three models of our heat pump outdoor units can overheat, which may pose a fire hazard. The indoor unit poses no risk of overheating and is not the subject of Lennox’s voluntary recall. The three affected units are listed below. There have been two reports of overheating, only one of which resulted in a fire. In neither incident were there any personal injuries or property damage, other than to the unit itself.

Consumers should immediately contact their installing servicer, dealer, or contractor to arrange for a free replacement of the outdoor unit and for removal of the affected unit. While awaiting replacement, consumers should monitor affected outdoor units while they are being operated and keep foliage and other flammable items at least 24 inches away from the recalled outdoor units.
