Thermostat Recycling

Ensuring that mercury from older thermostats is disposed of safely is something that we at Lennox take very seriously. Mercury in the food chain or water supply is of special concern to young children and women of childbearing age because it can inhibit the development of the brain and nervous system.

Thermostat Recycling in the U.S.

We are a member of the Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC), a not-for-profit organization that facilitates the collection and proper disposal of mercury-containing thermostats in the United States.

TRC has distributed more than 3,400 collection containers to participating locations across America, including all Lennox distribution facilities.

Visit thermostat-recycle.org and simply enter your zip code to find a location in your area.

Visit Lennox Stores and use the Store Locator to find a collection site near you. All Lennox Stores locations collect and recycle mercury-containing thermostats.

Thermostat Recycling in Canada

Lennox also participates in the Canadian thermostat recycling program. Switch the ‘Stat is administered by the Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI) and supported by the Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating (CIPH). This program accepts mercury-containing, electronic and mechanical thermostats and ensures components are kept out of the waste stream.
