Will a new R-410A outdoor unit work with my R-22 indoor unit?
If you purchase an
air conditioner or
heat pump that uses R-410A, your HVAC technician will need to inspect your indoor unit to see if it meets the performance requirements of the R-410A system. If the indoor unit is older, it will likely need replacing.
Additionally, outdoor cooling units are specifically designed to work with matched indoor units for optimum efficiency and performance. Air conditioners and heat pumps may "work" with other indoor units, but the result is a definite compromise in overall system performance.
Dry-charged units
Occasionally, budget constraints won't allow replacing an entire cooling system. For these situations, Lennox offers
dry-charged heat pumps and air conditioners. These units are shipped dry and charged with refrigerant upon installation, so they work seamlessly with existing R-22 indoor units. To assure compatibility, your
