An HVAC damper (also called a duct damper) is a movable plate, located in the ductwork, that regulates airflow and redirects it to specific areas of the home. Dampers are typically used in zoning or “zone control” systems.
A Lennox® zoning system divides your home into as many as four “zones,” giving you more options for controlling your family’s comfort and your home’s energy usage. By directing air to where it’s needed most, a zoning system doesn’t waste energy overheating or overcooling other areas. In fact, when used with a programmable thermostat, zoning can lead to energy savings of up to 35%.*
