Thanks to everyone who participated in our Energy Savings Superstar Contest. Our panel of judges sorted through many great entries before choosing this unique tip from Denise Elkins of Missouri:
"Whenever I find that a family member has left a light on or an appliance plugged in, I turn off the light or unplug the appliance and cover the switch or outlet with a piece of duct tape. The rule at our house is that the duct tape must remain in place for 24 hours. You can imagine the horror on my teenagers' faces when they realize they won't be able to turn on their computer or television for an entire day! It usually only takes one instance of forgetting to "unplug" before they remember to conserve energy and turn off electronics when they're not in use."
Congratulations, Denise! You and your family will receive up to $10,000 in Lennox home comfort equipment.
