Rated 4 out of 5 by TomB Watch out for ice on top forming ice cicles inside unit which can stop fan without registering an alert.
Very efficient and quiet unit. Only issue in 1 1/2 years has been ice forming on the top of the unit blockiong the fan from operatuon. Since the top of the heat pump is completely open without any weather guard, ice can form on the top of the unit leading to ice cicles dripping down inside of the unit. Then when the fan stops, ice can form between the the ice cicles and the plastic fan blades because there is only a 1/8 inch clearance between the inside of the unit and the fan blades. The small efficient electric fan moter is not strong enough to break the fan blades free from the ice. Curiously, the "smart" thermostat apparently cannot detect the non-operation of the outside fan and does not provide an alert to the homeowner that the fan is not operating.

We were pleased that Lennox provided an energy efficient unit that allows us to cool our home while minimizing the cost to run the unit. This efficiency qualified us to receive significant rebates from multiple sources.

I can't believe what a difference having a 2 speed air conditioner. We had multiple thermostats installed to run our system, and many times we don't even realize it is on.

An excellent unit which delivers everything it promised too. Wisper quiet and with remote access and coordination with our wifi thermostat and gas furnace, it is a winning combination for us.

This product, although the size is imposing, runs very quietly. Give some serious thought as to where it is positioned on your property as it is a very large eyesore.

The quiet is great -- my attic door doesn't rattle anymore. Remote wifi/smartphone monitoring and control works great and will save money. The dehumidifier feature improves indoor air noticably.

Unit is very quiet. Our air conditioner is placed in the center of our 1963 South Florida home so we can hear it from just about any room we are in. We are very happy with this new unit and can barely hear it which is a huge difference from our last unit. It is a pricey unit though so hopefully it will show a return with lower electric bills.

The outdoor condensing unit has a grille construction that protects the unit in a very effective manner.
The unit is very quiet-we hardly ever hear it running.
The entire unit is durable and well constructed. It is not flimsy in design.
The compressor unit is extremely quiet.

We love all of the features. The icomfort Wi-Fi is amazing. We can set it to heat the house at 6:00 in the morning when we are getting showered and dressed for the day and then back to a cooler setting by about 7:30 in the winter months and to stay at a cooler setting all day during the summer. The entire unit is very quiet and keeps the house comfortable, no hot or cold spots in the house now. We bought the Pureair filtration system too. The air just feels cleaner and I don't noticed bad odors any longer. Wonderful and well worth the money. Just knowing that it kills germs and viruses is a comfort. I have 3 individuals in my home with weakened immune systems so I really appreciate that feature. We live in the desert so dust has always been a real problem to deal with. Not any more! I dusted thoroughly after it was installed and have been watching to see how well it would do keeping the amount of dust down. It's doing great! I may have to change the filter a little sooner the first time around because it has cleaned the air so well. We have only had to run the furnace a couple of times but again no hot or cold spots and very quiet.

After dozens of hour of research, we purchased two of these units to cool our townhome in Puerto Rico, selecting a 4 ton XC21 for the bedroom areas and a smaller 2 ton XC21 for the living, dining and kitchen areas replacing an older 5-ton unit of nondescript origin. Splitting the units and ducting allowed to us to 'zone' A/C operation as we needed to depending on where we were in the property. Both were paired with with the MV32 variable-speed blower coil/air handling unit and together, these are absolutely be best ACs we have ever had or seen. They were the first XC21's installed on the island -this was back in summer of 2006. Current draw dropped so much that we had to resize the breakers as the units draw less than 25 amps when both are on at the compressor's 'low' speed. The variable-frequency drives on the blower coils and the myriad of operation 'duty curves' programs allowed by configuring the various jumpers on the blower coil control board allow you to set initial run to a lower air handling speed to allow for maximum humidity extraction for a few minutes after the compressors kick in, keeping some circulation going at 20% speed even when the compressors are off, setting blower speed ramp-down speed when the compressors shut off and many other duty cycle options on the blower coils. In short, fantastic pieces of equipment. Worth every penny. They have been running flawlessly for six years, so....don't be afraid of the technology as they are stone reliable.
