Each year, the Southern Living Idea House is built in a new location. The luxury home showcases inspiring interior design ideas and innovative technology for more comfortable living.
For 2016, the Southern Living Idea House is found in Mt Laurel, Alabama. Set in beautiful woodsy surroundings, Mt Laurel Cottage blends the classic with the modern and the indoors with the outdoors.
The resulting space is a fresh take on traditional Southern style, without sacrificing any of the charm or comfort.
Four seasons of perfect comfort
Being located in Alabama, Mt Laurel Cottage experiences all four seasons of weather. To help maintain a perfectly cool house in the summer and a warm and welcoming one in the winter, the designers chose to install two complementary Lennox® home comfort systems, both featuring high-efficiency Dave Lennox Signature® collection equipment.
The CBX32MV Air Handler
The Southern Living Idea House also features the CBX32MV air handler*. Used primarily to circulate cool air in the summer or warm air from a heat pump in the winter, the CBX32MV is a quiet and efficient air handler that's suitable for almost any type of installation. Easy to install, the unit can be mounted either horizontally or vertically with minimal modification.
The XP21 Heat Pump
The quietest and most energy efficient heat pump you can buy**, the Southern Living Idea House features the ultra-efficient XP21 heat pump. Ideal for milder climates, the XP21 provides energy-efficient heating and cooling during every season of the year.
The SL18XP1 Heat Pump
For additional comfort, the Southern Living Idea House was fitted with a second heat pump. Extremely quiet, efficient and reliable, the SL18XP1*** contains innovative silentcomfort™ technology, which ensures virtually silent operation even during the hottest Alabama summer.
The icomfort® S30 Smart Thermostat
The iComfort® Smart thermostat controls the comfort level in the Southern Living Idea House precisely and efficiently. Energy-saving and flexible, the iComfort S30's Smart Away™ mode connects with the GPS in a homeowner's smartphone, allowing them to switch the system to a more efficient mode when they are away. The Smart Away mode then returns the system to a normal schedule and more comfortable temperature when the homeowner returns.
As well as having a highly efficient Lennox home comfort system, the Southern Living Idea House also features beautiful interior design and exquisitely matched fixtures and fittings.
