Commitment in Action

At Lennox, our commitment to the environment is taking shape in many ways. Not only did we create the world’s first residential air conditioner rated at more than 20.5 SEER, but we also offer one of the most efficient gas furnaces. Both of these products are part of a complete selection of ENERGY STAR® qualified heating and cooling systems.

Processes

Our dedication to environmental innovation doesn’t end with our products. At our manufacturing facilities, we have implemented many projects that reduce hazardous material and energy usage. And we continue to look at new ways to lower energy usage and emissions.

Partnerships

As we create the framework for future actions, we are strengthening our commitment through partnerships with regional utility companies, along with thousands of Lennox dealers across North America. We are also involved in industry coalitions that promote environmentally responsible practices.

We are the first heating, ventilation and air-conditioning manufacturer ever to be named an ENERGY STAR Manufacturing Partner of the Year, an honor we have received four times in five years. To continue this leadership, we have a team dedicated to fostering new technologies and solutions that benefit our customers and the communities in which they live. A recent contribution of this team is www.itpaystolivesmart.com, which provides an educational resource for homeowners and homebuyers looking to save energy and improve air quality.

Lennox also supports thermostat recycling programs in the U.S. and Canada. We are a member of the Thermostat Recycling Corporation (TRC), a not-for-profit organization that facilitates the collection and proper disposal of mercury-containing thermostats. TRC has distributed more than 3,400 collection containers to participating locations across America, including all Lennox distribution facilities. To find a collection point in your area, go to thermostat-recycle.org and enter your zip code.

Switch The Stat

Lennox joined the Canadian Thermostat Recovery Program in December 2010 as part of an agreement with the Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI), which operates the program under the name "Switch the Stat." In the fall of 2011, residents in BC and Ontario will be able to drop off old thermostats and purchase new programmable models. Get details on switchthestat.ca.

We are proud to have a wide range of Lennox products approved to earn National Green Building Certification points by the NAHB Research Center, a subsidiary of the National Association of Home Builders. In December 2009, Lennox was chosen to participate in the rebuilding of a military family’s house n Hattiesburg, Mississippi as part of the ABC TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Dusty Walker and his crew from Oak Grove Heating & Air designed and installed a home comfort and energy solution using lennox National Green Building Certified products for the Heathcock family home.
