Causes behind the problem

Ground-level ozone is man-made. Many electronic particle air cleaners and ionizers (not Healthy Climate products) produce ozone. Concentrations depend on how powerful the device is, whether it's placed in a small space and how many interior doors are closed.

Health effects

Long-term repeated exposure to high levels of ozone can reduce lung function or aggravate existing respiratory conditions, such as asthma or bronchitis.* Even exposure to relatively low amounts of ozone may cause chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing and throat irritation.

Things you can do

Meet Ozone

The problem with Ozone is that he's two-faced. When he's hanging out in the stratosphere, he's nice and considerate, helping to block potentially harmful ultraviolet light from reaching the ground. When he comes down to earth, he can make the air dirty and hard to breathe.
